THE AUTHOR Jane Karago-Odongo was born in Kenya. She immigrated to Canada in November 2000. She holds a Master’s degree in Immigration and Settlement Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Independent Studies and Women Studies. She is a Consultant, Facilitator, Public Speaker, Motivational Speaker, Community Developer, Counselor, Researcher and Public Educator. Jane has directed and produced a video Tumaini which depicts scenarios of health promotion for immigrants. Actors are all local immigrants based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She has worked for more than ten years supporting new immigrants settle and integrate in Canada. She has vast experience in community development, advocacy and supporting entrepreneurship for immigrants.
